Individual therapy offers a supportive space to explore what you’re going through and build tools to help you move forward. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, low mood, past experiences, or life stress, we work together to better understand your needs and what may be getting in the way.
Using an attachment and trauma-informed perspective, along with evidence-based approaches such as EFIT, ACT, CBT, and solution-focused therapy, sessions focus on building resilience, developing coping strategies, and supporting you in working toward your goals.
Couples therapy provides a supportive space to strengthen your connection, improve communication, and work through challenges together. We explore patterns in the relationship and help you build tools to better understand and support one another.
Using an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approach, we focus on the deeper emotions and attachment needs that can impact how partners connect, helping create a stronger and more secure relationship.
Family therapy offers a supportive space to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and work through challenges together. We focus on understanding family dynamics and helping each member feel heard and supported.
With a strengths-based approach, we work with families to build on what’s already working while developing new ways to create a more connected and supportive home environment.
Sessions for children and teens use a variety of approaches to support emotional well-being, behaviour, and school-related challenges. As a former teacher and school counsellor, Julie is comfortable working with children as young as 5 and brings an understanding of both home and school environments.
Sessions may include play, conversation, and connection-based strategies to help youth express themselves, build skills, and feel supported.
Virtual therapy offers a convenient and flexible way to access support from the comfort of your own home. Sessions are provided through a secure, easy-to-use platform, allowing you to connect in a safe and confidential space.
Whether you’re at home, at work, or elsewhere in Alberta, virtual sessions make it easier to prioritize your mental health and work toward your goals.
All clients are met with compassion, respect, and care. Therapy is guided by meeting you where you are at, moving at a pace that feels safe, and gently getting to know your story with curiosity and attention.
A trauma-informed approach recognizes how past experiences can shape how we think, feel, and relate to others. Sessions focus on creating a sense of safety, building trust, and supporting emotional regulation, while being mindful not to overwhelm. You are always in control of what is shared and when.
Therapy is tailored to your individual needs, with the goal of helping you feel understood, supported, and empowered as you move forward.
Please note, as of September 1st, 2025, fees at Open Door Psychology will be increasing to be aligned with the Psychologist's of Alberta Association (PAA). As such, 50-minute sessions will increase to $235 and 80-minute sessions will increase to $352.50.
