Our family therapy sessions are designed to help families build stronger relationships, improve communication, and resolve conflicts. We believe that every family has unique strengths, and we work with families to identify those strengths and build on them to create a more positive and supportive family environment.
Julie recognizes the complexities of families and how difficult it can be to take the first step to receiving therapy. During the initial sessions, Julie spends time understanding family dynamics, history, and patterns. She often uses an analogy of a car, if the car is not working, it will not drive. Just like a family, if the parts are not working together, it will be difficult to function successfully. Julie spends time to ensure all family members' voices are heard both by her and the other family members present.
Julie has worked with a variety of family structures and dynamics from nuclear to single parent, with children at one or different homes, same-sex couples, and many others. She is also sensitive to different cultural, religious, and ethnic practices that may be present in a family. Julie has worked in education for nearly two decades, supporting families from all backgrounds with a variety of needs.
When booking family therapy, each family member will need to fill in consent form. For minors, all legal guardians will need to sign consent for each child/teenager attending therapy.
